Vince Gilligan Shares He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... At the Moment.

Vince Gilligan could not have predicted that his new science-fiction series would turn into a massive hit. “The viewers have been incredible,” he states. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

With the first season of the acclaimed series reaching its finale—and Season 2 officially in the works—the creative team recently discussed the viewer reception and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Fan Response

Anyone might to get distracted by the rampant praise and online debates about Pluribus. He is striving to ignore the noise.

“It feels like an endless supply of something incredibly sweet and being tickled to death,” he explains. “It's amazing, but I hear about it through word of mouth, and that's on purpose. Never in my life looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever plan to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be never leaving the house from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Regardless of his concerted efforts, there’s no way to avoid the immensely favorable response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to take it in stride and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“It is not our goal to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“We prefer to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan adds.

A Pressing Query: Has the creator Know the Ending of Pluribus?

So if the creative staff are not listening by audience theories, does it imply they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… in a way.

“We have some compelling concepts about how the story could conclude,” he states. “yet we stand ready to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. That has held us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we conceive of something superior and I imagine we will be doing that.”

On the other hand, if they hit a wall, Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.

“My recurring proposal is that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “though the idea hasn't gained traction.”

Of course, why not reference the classics?

“I'd love for Carol to wake up in bed beside Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus is currently available on Apple TV.
