Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's 10-match winless start to the top-flight season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
