Battlefield 6's Casual Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a new playlist called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but features a few notable changes:

  • Every squad includes only 8 human participants, with the rest filled by 32 bots.
  • Activities performed by human gamers award complete experience points, while AI activities provide reduced XP.
  • Just a pair of locations are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
  • Features like Dogtags, achievements, and stat tracking have been turned off.

So essentially, this mode delivers on its name: it offers a laid-back take of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, since it provides more options for players looking for different ways to enjoy the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, many Battlefield 6 fans are upset.

Community Reactions: From Fury to Praise

"Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments a different user. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, a player notes, "I have no idea where we are headed with this title," while someone else lists everything they consider to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this bot mode."

On the other hand, for every complaint, some gamers sharing how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, real players keep it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads a forum post. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this title all the time. Let them strike a balance," states another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," while someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Constructive Criticisms and Player Feedback

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to complain about the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it could increase queue times more extended for other modes because of the large amount of options currently available. Similarly, certain regions often face mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of human gamers, even though it primarily centers on fighting AI opponents.

Finally, a major grievances is that a previous feature was meant to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they tried to eliminate XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to forum feedback. Another describes this mode as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the initial release, what prompted them to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made?

If the development team has proven anything so far with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks being too difficult were adjusted rapidly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, if their data shows this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
