Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
